2026 Review

The 2026 Review of Senedd constituencies will be conducted in accordance with the Senedd Cymru (Members and Elections) Act 2024.
The Rules of the Act state that the Commission must create 16 Senedd constituencies by pairing 32 contiguous parliamentary constituencies.
Key dates
- The Commission publishes its Guide to the Review on 19 July 2024
- Initial Proposals are to be published in September 2024
- Revised Proposals are to be published in December 2024
- Final Decisions are to be published in March 2025
Consultations
Following the publication of both the Initial Proposals and the Revised Proposals there will be consultation periods lasting 4 weeks.
The Commission invites comments on the pairing, the naming, and the designating of constituencies during these consultation periods. The Commission is unable to take into account any representations made outside of the consultation periods.
The Commission is also unable to affect the number of Members of the Senedd to be elected nor the electoral system used to elect them and representations on these matters cannot be taken into account.
Representations should be made in writing, on the Commission's online consultation portal, by email, or in the post. Further details on the consultations will be published as part of the Initial Proposals report.
Following the publication of the Final Decisions, the new constituencies will take effect at the 2026 Senedd election.
